Gratitude From The Collective

Today, while prepping Thanksgiving dinner with my family around me in our new beautiful kitchen, I’m overcome with emotion. This time last year I never would have dreamed of having so much family near us. And a remodeled kitchen—while we were saving pennies for it—seemed like a far distant dream that would never materialize.

Even beyond these four walls, I have so much to be thankful for this year. My IDCO family extends well beyond Austin, and they are the reason I get to do what I love each day. IDCO is a team of 10 now, and I couldn’t succeed at anything if it weren’t for them. This year, I gained a partner as Lexi officially joined forces with IDCO full-time, we launched website templates to help serve a wider audience of interior designers, and the team grew exponentially. I’ve never understood unconditional friendships until I met these amazing women. We may work together, they may be contractors, but they’ve changed my life forever.

The IDCO family extends even further—to clients, industry friends, faithful followers, and beyond. We are so grateful for your involvement here, whether you’ve entrusted us with your brand, acted as a sounding board and encourager, or spent precious time here with us reading and engaging with our content. This online community never ceases to amaze us.

In celebration of the holiday, I asked our team to share what they’re most thankful for this year. I hope this gives you a small glimpse into the people that make up IDCO. And, above all, we hope that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving day, surrounded by those you love.

Stass: Family. This year I’m most thankful for having family nearby. Quinn’s little brother made the move to Austin + he brings us so much joy. Somehow, the stars aligned and my parents moved to Austin, too, (even if only part-time) and Austin now feels more like home than it ever has before.

Anna: This year has been the busiest, most adventurous year of my life, and I have loved every minute of it! I will forever be thankful for the incredible five months I got to spend living and studying in Budapest, Hungary. Those months were spent learning the language, weekend trips all across Europe, and making friends from all over the world. I’m thankful for my last year as a Hoosier and last year as a college student. The beginning of the end has started, and it has taught me to appreciate everything…even the 11 degree temperatures in November. Most of all, I’m thankful to have so many people in my life that I can share these experiences with and that show up for me.

Erin: I am thankful for so many things… avocados, fall in New England, getting the chance to be creative + work with amazing creatives all from the comfort of home, but when I really peel back all the extras, I’m most thankful for my beautiful family; especially my twins. They were born prematurely the day before Thanksgiving after going through IVF and a scary, high-risk pregnancy. We call them our little Thanksgiving miracles, and I will forever be most thankful for them.

Kath: This season I’m thankful for health, family, and all the ups and downs I was able to get through that made me stronger. As a freelance designer, sometimes it’s a challenge to keep your head above the water but if you work hard, if you believe in yourself and don’t give up, everything is possible. I’m also super-thankful for this new opportunity to work with IDCO – my dream partner! Wish you a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving!

Antun: We believe the Thanksgiving holiday gives us a moment like no other. On this day, we express gratitude to God for his blessings and give thanks to dear ones for their love and support. We remember the struggles of the pilgrims to start a new life on a new continent. We also remember the importance of giving thanks for the good things in our lives. It has its own feel to it and for that reason we will appreciate the moment as much as we can. Let’s all stop and take a deep breath right now—freeze time for just three minutes. What are you thankful for right now? Wishing you and your loved ones a joyous and gratitude-filled holiday!

Steph: This year my husband and I welcomed our second daughter, Violet, into our family, and we couldn’t be more grateful for these two little girls of ours. As high-school sweethearts who met as teenagers, we never could have imagined what our life would look like over a decade down the line. Of course, raising small children and balancing careers can be a tad bit chaotic at times, but we’re incredibly thankful for the work we do, children we adore, and our love for one another.

Lexi: I’ve become much more of a sentimental person in my adult years, and the older I get, the more I realized how blessed I truly am. I am surrounded by amazing friends + family and a fun-loving husband; I have my dream job and a house to hold so many memories as we grow. This year, I’m especially thankful for my new partnership with IDCO. It has allowed me to grow in my career and hone my craft. There truly couldn’t be a better business partner than Anastasia, who doubles as a forever friend! In more recent news, we just moved to our dream house in a neighborhood I have hoped and prayed to live in for so long. We are so grateful to be spending the holidays in our new home.

Eddie: Grateful for my health, my 16-year-old son, and the ability to create… every day!

Carmen: In August, we became a family of four when our second son, Ames, was born. As we celebrate his first Thanksgiving, I’m overwhelmed with thankfulness for his life and for the past four holiday seasons we have had with his big brother, Ellis. I just returned to work this month, so I find myself feeling extra lucky that I get to do what I love with wonderful, creative people—all within arms’ reach of my children. At the end of a year full of transition and change, I can’t help but reflect on the things I can count on without fail—the grace of God, the love and support of my husband, and the friends and family who make up our “village.” Happy Thanksgiving!
